WHAT IS MILESAHEAD ENERGY?
We’re Here to Revolutionize Batteries
MilesAhead Energy is a company cofounded by Dr. Yuxing Wang (CTO) and Dr. Luis Estevez (CEO) to advance the next generation in rechargeable batteries—Solid-State Batteries. We are developing our solid-state batteries to go further per charge, be able to go to high power and temperatures and do it all with enhanced fire safety and battery materials that are less expensive and cobalt-free!

WHO MILESAHEAD ENERGY?
Putting Battery Tech "MilesAhead"

Founded in 2021
Behind MilesAhead Energy
MilesAhead Energy, LLC was founded in March, 2021, by longtime friends and colleagues: Dr. Luis Estevez (CEO) and Dr. Yuxing Wang (CTO), who both worked as battery scientists at University of Dayton Research institute (UDRI) prior to 2021 as well as at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory from 2014 to 2017.
Dr. Luis Estevez
CO-FOUNDER & CEO
Dr. Luis Estevez obtained his PhD in Materials Science & Engineering at Cornell University (2013), while working on various energy storage projects, including Lithium-sulfur batteries. Afterwards, Luis obtained a Linus Pauling Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), where he managed a $1M, 3-year DOE energy storage project as its PI. He has gone on to work on solid-state batteries at UDRI and has managed another early-stage startup and raised over $300K in nondilutive capitol, prior to founding MilesAhead Energy.

Dr. Yuxing Wang
CO-FOUNDER & CTO
Dr. Yuxing Wang has more than ten years of experience in solid-state electrolyte and battery research serving Department of Energy, Army Corps of Engineers, NASA, Federal Aviation Administrations and other government agencies. His research at UDRI includes all-solid-state Li sulfur batteries, Li metal protection, solid-state NMC cathodes and graphite anodes, and battery safety which constitute the basis of MilesAhead Energy’s technology. He won and conducted a DOE-SBIR research project in a collaborative effort with a small business. Previously at PNNL, he led the development of microbatteries for fish tags—the world’s smallest cylindrical batteries. He was instrumental in transferring the technology to a battery manufacturer, EVE Battery, for commercialization. He serves as a technical advisor to Third Derivative, a venture capital fund/accelerator.
